42 percent of applicants to University of Florida were admitted for fall 2017

At University of Florida, 96 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 56 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Gainesville enrolled 52,669 students in fall 2017, including 35,247 in undergraduate and 17,422 in graduate programs, data shows. 5.4 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

83 percent of undergraduates are residents of Florida, and 11 percent are residents of other states. 5 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (54 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (21 percent).

The school admitted 42 percent of the 32,747 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 47 percent enrolled.
