46 percent of applicants to Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University were admitted for fall 2017

At Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, 91 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 65 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Tallahassee enrolled 9,913 students in fall 2017, including 8,024 in undergraduate and 1,889 in graduate programs, data shows. 6.2 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

78 percent of undergraduates are residents of Florida, and 20 percent are residents of other states. 3 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Black or African American (86 percent) and white (7 percent).

The school admitted 46 percent of the 7,533 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 45 percent enrolled.
