In a recent announcement, Southeastern Louisiana University has released new rules applicable to students who spend time on campus.
The rules state that individuals are prohibited from using, owning or storing electronic skateboards in any part of the university. The announcement was made Jan. 7.
The rule also extends to areas of the university, such as residence halls, Greek housing and apartments.
As a way of reducing confusion as to what constitutes an electronic skateboard, the university has stated that these devices include self-balancing boards, as well as scooters and hover-boards.
The changes are to take place immediately and the university's housing department is seeking to advise students about how they should go about the removal of such devices. According to the university's housing department, students who will be returning home, away from campus, at any point this spring, should bring their electronic skateboards with them. They should leave the devices at their residences away from campus and not return to the campus with them, as the use of such devices has been strictly prohibited for the foreseeable future.
The rule applies only to the listed devices, and does not affect the use of conventional skateboards.
