IBM VP to speak at Tiffin University's 2016 Commencement Ceremony

Zachary John Lemnios, vice president of Research Strategy and Worldwide Operations for IBM, is scheduled to be the main speaker at Tiffin University's 2016 Commencement Ceremony at 2 p.m. April 30.

“Mr. Lemnios was selected as this year's commencement speaker because of his impressive career path, achievements, and the leadership that he has provided to his profession,” Lillian Schumacher, the university's interim president, said. "TU is extremely pleased he has agreed to join us on this spectacular day celebrating the success of our students.”

The former assistant secretary of defense for research and engineering in the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), Lemnios begin his career as a "chip guy" before moving on to work in artificial intelligence research. He is credited with helping shape the DoD's technical strategy in support of national security objectives. 

Lemnios’ current responsibilities include creating and carrying out the research strategy and operations at IBM. These incorporate the business’ 12 worldwide laboratories as well as its network of collaboratories. He also  oversees IBM's long-term research agenda and is the leader of the company’s Global Technology Outlook.

The ceremony will be held at the university’s Heming Center, 350 Main St, in Tiffin, Ohio.
