Staff from the Albertsons Library at Boise State University offered remembrances of former library staff member Susan Henggeler this past week.

Henggeler, 66, died on March 18. She had served with the library since 1968 and, upon graduating from Boise State with a degree in English secondary education in 1972, was hired as a full-time staff member for the library. At the time of her passing, she was the longest serving employee of the library.

“The things I admired most about Susan were her service heart and caring nature,” a library staff member said. "Susan was a key member of the library’s Holiday Sharing committee for over 25 years, contributing gifts, time and money to help families in need, She was very involved with her church and in her circle of acquaintances, friends and family, Susan was well known as a person who reached out to those in need. In times of trouble or sadness, she instinctively knew the best way to help and was there to offer assistance.”

Henggeler was a passionate football and basketball fan and also loved animals, specifically cats. Co-workers also noted that she was an avid reader who favored thriller and mystery novels.
