The University of New Orleans and the Corporación Universidad de la Costa recently entered into a memorandum of understanding that creates a partnership wherein the schools’ students can participate in exchange programs and that fosters interaction between their faulty.

CUC, whose name translates to “University of the Coast,” is in Barranquilla, Colombia, and offers many similar programs of study to UNO, including engineering, environmental sciences, business administration and liberal arts, as well as a range of graduate programs.

UNO College of Engineering Dean and Interim Director for Research Emir José Macari participated in a signing ceremony on the CUC campus. On his trip, he also interacted with CUC faculty and staff, informing them about UNO’s academic and research offerings.

A private, nonprofit institution, CUC has many partnership agreements with universities throughout South America and Europe. The partnership with UNO, however, is CUC’s first with an American institution.
