The Boys and Girls Club of America (BGCA) and the University of Phoenix recently awarded the three most inspirational moms in the United States with full-tuition scholarships.

“This scholarship is a way for us to acknowledge moms who have put the needs of others before their own, even if it meant putting their own professional development on hold,” BGCA's National Vice President of Program, Training and Youth Development Services Edwin Link said. “Along with University of Phoenix, we are so excited to honor these three exceptional women and their commitment to their communities and themselves.”

The recipients are Jennifer Nehez from Palm Beach, Florida; Carmen Ochoa from Morena Valley, California; and Katherine Phillipe of Greenwell Spring Louisiana.

“In making possible these scholarships for mothers, we highlight what they teach all children: the value of hard work and education,” University of Phoenix President Timothy Slottow said. “Mothers embody much of what we value most at University of Phoenix. They leave nothing up to fate. They sacrifice for their families. They know pride and humility. They give blood, sweat and sometimes tears. They are an example to us all in defying the odds and fulfilling their desires and dreams.”
