Houston's Short nmoninated for women's leadership group

University of Houston Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Paula Myrick Short has been invited to join the Texas Medical Center (TMC) Women’s Leadership Council.

The newly formed group creates opportunities for female leaders to network and develop projects that promote TMC as a top choice for women pursuing health science jobs.

“I am proud to be a part of the Women’s Leadership Council,” Short said. “By positioning Houston as a destination for women in health science careers, we further elevate the diverse opportunities available in this city. I believe the University of Houston can play an important part in this endeavor by preparing women for medical careers through our colleges of Optometry and Pharmacy, as well as our new School of Nursing.”

The WLC is the second equality-oriented initiative at the University of Houston. The school also maintains the Center for ADVANCING Faculty Success, which focuses on adding more women and women-of-color to the teaching faculty in science, technology, engineering and math.
