Florida's C4 partnership receives support from community groups

The Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation, Community Foundation of Sarasota County (CFSC) and Gulf Coast Community Foundation (GCCF) have partnered to support the Consortium of Colleges on the Creative Coast (C4).

C4 – made up of New College of Florida, Ringling College of Art and Design, State College of Florida, the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, and FSU/The Ringling and Eckerd College – was formed two years ago with the help of the GCCF.

“Collaboration among regional higher education institutions and local foundations allows the consortium to take on new initiatives that will expand and improve the quality of life and educational landscape here – further positioning Manatee-Sarasota as a preferred college and university community,” Larry Thompson, president of Ringling College of Art and Design, said.

C4 seeks to amplify student and community benefits that come from this unique mix of colleges. Its goal is to make the region a hub for education and one that also attracts top entrepreneurs, individual and corporate supporters and jobs to the region. It wants to give students as many creative and competitive opportunities as possible.

The new partnership will help fund, coordinate and expedite the work of C4. Laurey Stryker, former president of the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, was appointed as the partnership's initiative manager.
