Dr. Jimmy Ishee, dean of the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Central Arkansas, recently became a 2016 Fellow of the National Association for Kinesiology in Higher Education (NAKHE).

Ishee’s induction as the 15th Fellow came during NAKHE's annual conference in San Diego, California, on Jan. 7.

“My involvement with the National Association for Kinesiology in Higher Education over the last 26 years has been one of my most rewarding professional experiences. Being designated as a Fellow by my colleagues is truly an honor,” Ishee said.

Ishee became the dean of the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences in 2014 and helped the school continue to grow its many departments. From communication sciences and disorders to kinesiology and physical education, Ishee’s role runs the gamut of health-based education tracks.

NAKHE, an organization designed to grow leadership in kinesiology administration and policy when it comes to teaching, scholarship and service in higher education, created the Fellowship designation to acknowledge kinesiology leaders. These leaders have made significant contributions to both NAKHE and kinesiology as a field.
