At the end of April, State College of Florida, which is located in Manatee-Sarasota, will host an information session in which attendees will be able to learn about the Educator Preparation Institute.
The program that was previously known as the Alternative Certification Program is an option for any bachelor’s degree holder who did not major in education. It is also an option for those with only temporary certificates who are seeking professional certification.
The sessions will be held at SCF Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Parkway E., Center for Innovation and Technology, at 6 p.m. April 27 to accommodate working adults.
The cost of the program is $2,250, if applicants are approved.
Overall, the program will consist of a number of courses, which will be followed by state and college exams, after which the students will be able to apply for professional teaching certificates from the Florida Department of Education.
