Cameron's communications department recognizes students

The Department of Communication at Cameron University recently presented students with a variety of awards, focused on the department’s speech team, broadcast students, journalism students and the Lambda Pi Eta honorary society. 

Corrine Binnings, from St. Ann, Jamaica, won the Top Undergraduate Award, a recognition of her successful presentation of a paper at the Oklahoma Sooner Conference.

From the speech team, Savanna Sanders won the Outstanding Individual Events Competitor Award; Danny McQuarters won the Outstanding Debate Competitor Award; and Alex Amos won the Outstanding Forensics Contributor Award.

Students honored for their work as TV hosts include Chidinma Chykugwu and Temilade Adelusi, while those honored for TV directing include Breshya Lewis and Alexix Page. Tanika Gentry received the Radio Production award, while Makenzie Burk received the Duncan Economic Development Foundation Production Award.

In journalism, Jacob Jardel won for Leadership & Craft; and Tyla Eakins, Joel Frambes and Krista Pylant won for Writing, Editing & Layout. Eakins also received an award for Convergence, and Vicky Smith won for Management and Caped Crusader.

Students inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, which recognizes academic achievement and interest in communications fields, include Samuella Odatrey Addo, Charlene Belew, Mary Ann Davis, Rebecca Hong, Liana Mingura, Ashley Nix, Morgan Thompson, Samantha Diehl, Komantcia Jones, Savannah Price, Danielle Quickle, Haley Wilson, and Zachary Young and Adelusi, Amos, Burk, Chykygwu, Gentry, McQuarters, Page, Pylant, Sanders and Smith.
