The University of Arkansas has announced a psychological
research study for current smokers who are interested in quitting, or cutting
down on how much they smoke, as well as dieters.
The study is not a treatment study, and
clinical services will not be provided.
The university has extended an invitation to anyone over the
age of 18 that is currently dieting or smoking to take part in the study, which
is related to goals when it comes to eating and smoking. Participants will be
asked to fill out questionnaires and complete a number of tasks in a lab. These
tasks include handgrip strength tests, drawing and rating products that will
include food.
Participants will be expected to devote one hour to the
study and will be paid $20 upon completion. Anyone interested in being a part
of the study can contact the university’s Laboratory for Emotion and Addictive
Processes and ask about the Eating Goals study.
