The Mississippi Valley Technology Teacher Education Conference recently inducted University of Arkansas Director of the Education Renewal Zone Lindsey Swagerty.

The induction ceremony took place at the annual conference held in Chicago on Nov. 11.

Founded in 1908, the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) teacher education association is the nation’s oldest and longest operating professional education research society.

As tradition dictates, new inductees are to be chosen from education professionals that display significant and extraordinary leadership in the STEM fields as well as in teacher education.

Swagerty was chosen for induction due to her leadership in STEM education among elementary-aged children, her development of the STEM curriculum and her professional development and support of teachers. She was one of two inductees at the conference this year.

As a member of the organization, it is expected that she present educational research at future conferences and lead the annual conference’s research sessions.
