University of Arkansas issued the following announcement on March 1.
Entrepreneurs and innovators will gather in Fayetteville March 9-11 for Techstars Startup Weekend. The event will be held at the Brewer Family Entrepreneurship Hub, 123 W. Mountain St., Fayetteville.
Techstars Startup Weekends are designed to provide superior experiential education for all entrepreneurs. Beginning with Friday night pitches and continuing through brainstorming, business plan development and basic prototype creation, Techstars Startup Weekends culminate in Sunday night demos and presentations.
Participants create working startups during the event and are able to collaborate with like-minded individuals outside of their daily networks. All teams hear talks by industry leaders and receive valuable feedback from local entrepreneurs. The weekend is centered around action, innovation, and education.
Haley Allgood, organizer of the Startup Weekend and executive director of Startup Junkie Foundation, says she is excited to see what participants pitch on Friday night. "Attending Startup Weekend 2015 was one of my first experiences on the Startup Junkie team. I remember entrepreneurs working on their ideas and creating MVPs for businesses including RaftUp, Lawnly, and LBD."
Local entrepreneur Dennis Wymiss, founder of Give a Damn and 2018 Startup Weekend organizer, attributes his current position to connections he made at Startup Weekend 2013.
