Cameron University issued the following announcement on April 20.

"The Lawton Northeast On-Line Branch Lions Club is once again proud to donate an Eastern Redbud tree to Cameron University in honor of Earth Day 2018," says Granger. "This is the 10th year that we have been a part of the Earth Day celebration on the Cameron campus, dating back to April 2009. Lion Joe Wotring, the chairman for this community service project and a founding member of the club, does a wonderful job each year. It is our sincere hope that the trees which surround Aggie Gym will bring lasting pleasure to generations of visitors, students, faculty and staff at Cameron University. The trees are a reflection of our club’s strong connection to the university and our desire to make Earth Day more than just a holiday. Together with our friends at Cameron, we strive to demonstrate to our community what can be accomplished by teamwork to improve our beautiful, yet very fragile planet."

“We are honored to be recipients of these living gifts from the Lawton Northeast On-Line Branch Lions Club as they continue the tradition by observing Earth Day with a tree planting on our campus,” says Albert Johnson, Jr., Vice President for University Advancement. “We are deeply appreciative that Allen Granger, Joe Wotring and the other club members continue to support Cameron University and to enhance the beauty of our campus.”

The members of the Lawton Northeast On-Line Branch Lions Club established their tradition of giving trees to Cameron in 2009 with two Red Oaks. Beginning in 2010, they have contributed Eastern Redbuds, which bring brilliant color to the Cameron campus each spring.
