The University of Arkansas announces the appointment of Brandon F. Spicher as associate director of development in the College of Education and Health Professions.

Spicher holds two bachelor's degrees from the U of A, in political science and communication, and has previously worked in Washington, D.C., as a legislative coordinator for a governmental affairs firm and before that in the offices of former Sen. Mark Pryor and former Rep. Mike Ross.

"Brandon's national policy expertise in the areas of health and education is ideal for us as we work to connect benefactors with our programs in ways that are meaningful to them," said Jamie Banks, senior director of development and external relations. "He also has an extensive network built through his service with the Arkansas congressional delegation that will help us continue to have an impact on the entire state with improved systems in education and health care."

Spicher said he is glad to back in his home state, where he can put his experience to work on a statewide scale.

"I am excited to join the talented development team at the College of Education and Health Professions," said Spicher, who is a native of Hot Springs National Park. "The college holds an inspiring mission statement 'to enhance the quality of life of the citizens of Arkansas.' I take that challenge to heart. Education and health are transformational fields and their scale of impact in Arkansas has created an abundance of momentum and energy. I look forward to meeting with educators and health professionals from all across the state."

Before working for three years as legislative coordinator for Venable LLP, Spicher served as legislative correspondent and press assistant for Sen. Mark Pryor from 2013 to 2015. He served as deputy communications director and director of constituent services for Rep. Mike Ross from 2011 to 2013.

"Part of my role working in Congress was cultivating strong relationships throughout Arkansas," he said. "My policy experience has allowed me to have a more complex understanding of where Arkansas stands nationally in health and education."

Spicher also served as a member of the board of directors for the Washington chapter of the Arkansas Alumni Association from 2013 to 2018.
