About 59 percent of the 713 degrees and certificates handed out by the Universidad Politecnica de Puerto Rico in 2016-17 were to students in Engineering programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.
The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Rey conferred 359 bachelor's degrees and 62 master's degrees in Engineering programs.
But the single most popular program was for a master's degree in Engineering/Industrial Management. Data shows the school gave out 113 master's degrees in Engineering/Industrial Management, followed by 98 bachelor's degrees in Mechanical Engineering and 60 bachelor's degrees in Civil Engineering, General.
The universidad enrolled 4,228 students for 2016-17, including 3,357 in undergraduate programs and 871 in graduate programs.
