Cost of college went up for all students at Inter American University of Puerto Rico-Ponce

Tuition and fees rose 15.5 percent for 2017-18 at Inter American University of Puerto Rico-Ponce, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Puerto Rico students paid $5,872 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year $788 more than the $5,084 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 98 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 902 students received grants or scholarships totaling $4.81 million and 36 students took out student loans totaling more than $85,764.

Including all undergraduates, 4,733 students used grants or scholarships totaling $25.47 million. Another 1,093 took out $3.5 million in federal student loans.
