Cost of college went up for all students at Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico-Ponce

Tuition and fees rose 2.3 percent for 2017-18 at Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico-Ponce, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Puerto Rico students paid $5,370 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year $120 more than the $5,250 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 96 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 883 students received grants or scholarships totaling $4.65 million and 397 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.46 million.

Including all undergraduates, 4,840 students used grants or scholarships totaling $24.98 million. Another 2,993 took out $14.51 million in federal student loans.
