Cost of college went up for all students at Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico-Arecibo

Tuition and fees rose 2.3 percent for 2017-18 at Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico-Arecibo, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Puerto Rico students paid $5,268 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year $120 more than the $5,148 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 97 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 63 students received grants or scholarships totaling $324,637 and 17 students took out student loans totaling more than $47,286.

Including all undergraduates, 555 students used grants or scholarships totaling $2.78 million. Another 307 took out $1.64 million in federal student loans.
