74 percent of applicants to Saginaw Valley State University were admitted for fall 2017

At Saginaw Valley State University, 83 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 59 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in University Center enrolled 8,617 students in fall 2017, including 7,846 in undergraduate and 771 in graduate programs, data shows. 6.9 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

93 percent of undergraduates are residents of Michigan, and 3 percent are residents of other states. 4 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (72 percent) and Black or African American (8 percent).

The school admitted 74 percent of the 6,457 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 26 percent enrolled.
