74 percent of applicants to Northern Michigan University were admitted for fall 2017

At Northern Michigan University, 88 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 54 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Marquette enrolled 7,612 students in fall 2017, including 7,018 in undergraduate and 594 in graduate programs, data shows. 5.8 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

81 percent of undergraduates are residents of Michigan, and 18 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (84 percent) and two or more races (4 percent).

The school admitted 74 percent of the 6,173 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 33 percent enrolled.
