Bethany College issued the following announcement on July 16.
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 1,939 teams that have earned the distinction for Scholar-Teams for the 2018-19 academic year. The Swedes landed 12 teams on that list; men’s basketball, women’s basketball, women’s cross country, men’s golf, women’s golf, women’s indoor track and field, women’s outdoor track and field, women’s soccer, softball, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, volleyball.
For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar-Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0-grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.
