At the American Council on Education’s (ACE) 2021 meeting, ACE2021, political analysts Kirsten Powers and Michael Steele will discuss the 2020 election and how it may affect education in the next few years.
The annual meeting is set for March 22-24, 2021 and will be a virtual meeting, which will allow more educators to attend.
Powers and Steele will hold their discussion during the Opening Plenary session on Monday, March 22 at 1 p.m., EDT, according to ACE's website.
Powers is an author, USA Today columnist and CNN political analyst. Steele has served as Maryland’s lieutenant governor, chairman of the Republican National Committee and now as a political analyst for MSNBC.
Other sessions that will focus on public policy include a federal relations update from ACE Senior Vice President Terry W. Hartle. This will be a comprehensive overview of current developments in higher education policy, and what the new administration and Congress could do in the area of higher education.
Those who attend the event can view as many live-streamed sessions as they’d like and will have access to recorded sessions later. The virtual meeting platform will provide numerous options to connect with colleagues in several sessions including roundtable conversations, video chat features, daily social hours and wellness breaks. ACE2021 also will focus on issues such as how institutions are handling current and future challenges related to the pandemic; the national reckoning over racial justice, inclusion, and equity; and degree attainment and data analytics.
